Desmond is a M.Sc student working at UBC Department of Anesthesiology, Pharmacology & Therapeutics, with Dr. Stephan Schwarz, and Drs. Puil and MacLeod. His thesis project involves studying the efficacy and toxicity of quaternary lidocaine derivatives as local anesthetic agents intended for the treatment of chronic pain.
