Gerald received his Doctorate in Political Science from Colorado State University in 1998 where he specialized in public policy, international relations and environmental politics. He is currently the Director for Alcohol and Gambling Policy at the BC Ministry of Health, a Collaborating Scientist with the Centre for Addictions Research of BC, and an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Psychology at UBC. Previously, he was a Senior Research and Policy Analyst for the Canadian Centre on Substance Abuse, and an Adjunct Professor in Political Science at the University of Victoria. Hi research focuses on substance use policy and practice.
