I am a clinical researcher and a practicing psychiatrist, psychotherapist, and addiction physician, who completed training in Germany (Freiburg, Munich) and the USA (Johns Hopkins, Yale, NIH). I study novel treatments of addictive disorders and concurrent addiction and mental disorders. My interest in pain is focused on pain among individuals in opioid substitution treatment. Aside from clinical research I conduct studies in my UBC lab (BRAIN-lab) working on a better understanding of mechanism underlying cognitive control.
